All Eyes

I’m writing in near darkness now, TV light.

Blazing green fiery squares
branded on the backs of my eyelids.
Pulsing, throbbing pictures
of light
of shadow
of darkness and surroundings,
Burn like reality played
over and again back inside you
somewhere.

Time, time tonight.
So
slow
and
heavy, eye
lids, fall
sleepily to the floor
and slip
dragging
hairs
al o n g
in slimy trails
tears, wet, sticky
tired and slow
with
heavy c lo u d e d
mist
hover
conscious of every fragment
of a thought, every corner
of a suspicion
floods every waking dream
with paranoia.
Is it true?
Is this sleep tonight forever?
So much detail as the
wall slides toward me
and
far away with the TV
fixed in like a tiny jewel.

Sparkle

Play over and again

Squinting and clenching then
to see: frozen patterns of fire,
green hazy form
orange yellow
That yellow tree alone
in the pasture, glowing.

Close your eyes and see with
your thoughts, see with the
past, see with every heartbeat
a new image, a new name, see
beyond the summers and
the slow drip of filling fulfillment.

I’m writing in near darkness now,
looking back over this stream to the other side.
Would that be like someone else seeing
paranoia and fear.

Squint softly,
grin
and pull the hair back
around your neck.
Freeze freeze
freeze
and softly melt away
so slender, soft, smiling
so so so
forever.

Sparkle

Slowly rolling
and rolling
like eyes rolling
and glimmering like slick
tears left on your eyelids
that dry up into crystalline
forms
stuck in the middle of your
face
as it slides to me
and far away.
